About this project
Musubi is a Japan-based cultural initiative exploring respectful ways for people outside Japan to connect with small local shrines.
We do not conduct religious rituals ourselves. All religious aspects of an offering are handled by the shrine.
Our role is to support communication, translation, reporting and coordination, so that international supporters can understand and respectfully take part in shrine culture. We do not arrange transportation, accommodation or guided tours. If in-person experiences are offered in the future, they will be handled through appropriate travel or local experience partners.
Our operating principles

The shrine decides
Whether to take part, what may be offered, how it is worded, what may be photographed and what may not. A shrine can stop at any time, for any reason, and owes us nothing.

We guarantee no outcome
No wish is promised. Nothing is sold as effective. An offering is a respectful act, not a transaction with the divine.

Money is accounted for
What the supporter pays, what reaches the shrine, what covers our work, and what the shrine's share was spent on. Stated in advance, reported afterwards.

The shrine's workload does not grow
Applications, translation, enquiries, records, reporting and payment are ours. The shrine's part is the religious judgement and a monthly confirmation.
Who is behind it
A small Japan-based project, not a company with a marketing department. We deliberately keep our own faces off this site: the shrines and the culture are the subject, not us. But you should know who is answerable, so the project name, the base, the contact address and the scope of what we do are stated plainly here, and we answer email.
